Coolamon S095| Peak Hill S068

52 of these silos were built between 1918 - 1929. Like the 50,000 bushel silos, which were built in the same era, some of these silos had thev workhouse built at a later date. They also varied in capacity, depending on the number of bins. The name 'Metcalf' comes from the American designer, J.S. Metcalf, who helped design the Sydney Terminal. The main difference between these silos and the other concrete silos, is that the workhouse has 6 main bins, instead of 4. These bins are slightly oval and have an internal diameter of approximately 15'. The height if the bins is 62'6", whilst the external bins have an internal diameter of 38' and a bin height of 70'.
